Position Description =
SUMMARY: The R&D Engineer/Scientist will be responsible for leading the process and product development effort for new
solar technology. Candidate must have a MS or PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, Physics, or similar field with
experience in cell development and fabrication of organic or organic/inorganic cells. Candidates will have worked in an R&D
setting with experience in process development, process and equipment design, as well as in general experimental
procedures. The candidate will have excellent written and communication skill and should be familiar with standard word,
spreadsheet, presentation, and design software. Candidates with industrial experience are preferable.
DUTIES:
Process development and optimization for nanomaterials using colloidal dispersion
Develop and implement QC and online process control to improve reliability and reproducibility
Establish and use cell characterization methods
Support the scale-up activities (as required)
Interact with subcontractors and on-site technicians as needed
Lead the writing and preparation of proposals, reports, grants, contracts technical papers, presentations, and other written
or verbal communication objectives of related tasks
Find, develop, and use numerous information sources in conducting on going R&D activities
Keep abreast of all new and developing information related to active projects
General laboratory support and other duties, including:
Evaluates pricing and options for, and orders raw materials, supplies, equipment and other items as necessary
Maintain laboratory notebook and other documentation as required
Performs experiments using analytical instrumentation
Checks and maintains relevant laboratory and processing equipments
Participates in weekly (or as required) discussions in regard to status of work in progress
Generates regular progress reports
Collates relevant advances in field

Engineering Team: SR Process
Reports to: CEO
Job Summary:
Initially scale-up the rapid exothermic process for producing polysilicon.  Continually improve the efficiency of the process and
quality of the product.  Lead the engineering team.
Essential Job Duties:
  • Initially, based on the knowledge and parameters acquired from a bench scale reaction system, develop in incremental
    steps the rapid exothermic reaction system for mass production.Lead the team or an outside engineering company
    in the designing of the mass production process.
  • Lead the team or an outside engineering company in the designing of the reaction equipment.
  • Provide guidance and/or solution to technical difficulties encountered by the team.
  • Work with Safety Team and Production Team to develop rules and regulations for operation.
  • Analyze the quality and characteristic of the polysilicon and device ways to improve if necessary.
  • Continually improve the efficiency of the process and the quality of the product.
  • Review and approve design work and documentation done by the team and/or outside engineering company.
  • Develop testing schemes for intermediate and mass production processes and equipment.
  • Sign-off on equipment fabricated by Company and/or vendors.
  • Manage and protect the intellectual properties of the team.
  • Consult for Production Engineering on difficult to solve production issues.
  • Suppliers sourcing.
  • Liaise with suppliers at a higher level.
  • Setup rules and research methodology for the team.
  • Supervise, lead, nurture and mentor the team members.
  • Help the Company grow.
  • Work towards a greener world.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical or Material Science.
  • Must possess minimum 10 years relevant industry experience.  
  • Must possess experience for handling hazardous material.
  • Must possess experience for rapid exothermic processes.
  • Must possess experience for high temperature (>1000°C) processes.
  • Crystallography knowledge and/or experience desired.
  • Experience working with alkali metal desired.
  • Experience working with high purity metal/material desired.
  • Experience with Hunter Process and/or tantalum extraction process desired.
  • Must possess strong written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work safely in a lab research environment.
  • Must have an inherent passion for discovery.
  • Previous leadership roles desired.
  • Must possess mental and physical capacities necessary to perform the job duties.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed primarily indoors.  Lighting is artificial.  Equipment used includes standard office equipment i.e. computer,
telephone, fax machine and scanning electron microscope.  Physical demands include sitting, walking, standing, bending
over, kneeling, repetitive use of hands, grasping, pushing, pulling and lifting up to 15 kg.  Hours and days are Monday
through Friday with occasional weekends or overtime required.  Position requires close contact with other employees.

    steps the thermal decomposition, purification and melt separation systems for mass production.
  • Lead the team or an outside engineering company in the designing of the mass production processes.
  • Lead the team or an outside engineering company in the designing of the production equipment.
  • Provide guidance and/or solution to technical difficulties encountered by the team.
  • Work with Safety Team and Production Team to develop rules and regulations for operation.
  • Analyze the quality and characteristic of the products and device ways to improve if necessary.
